Meet Pick Cook, Cycle
In the fall of 2024, I lived in Nomi, a small village 25 minutes up the Adige, from Rovereto by bike. Pedalling my way to La Foresta and back home every day, I had plenty of time to let my eyes wander around and look for plants that I could pick.
Nothing very wild along the Eurovélo n.7. Not the rare and delicate alpine flora showcased in the museums of the region nor the idyllic holiday landscape people abroad would picture me in but a landscape of intensive apple and wine production, serious cycling culture, omnipresent highway sound, a lot of feral Jerusalem artichokes and some fruit trees here and there seemingly abandoned.
This is what I would pick!
During my time in La Foresta, I was happy to contribute to the Eco Lab and S4T programs with a series of workshops in which we picked , cooked and ate fruits and plants foraged around Rovereto.
